David and Goliath is a new 2 oz coin which is dedicated to the feat of David against Goliath.
Every morning a giant of the Philistine army named Goliath challenged the Israelites to fight him. Goliath was larger and taller than any other person and was very ferocious. Goliath was heavily armored and armed with a sword, spear, and large shield. Nobody dared to fight him.
David was a shepherd boy who had faith in the Lord. One day David brought food to his brothers who served in the army of Israel. When he reached the military camp, he heard Goliath throwing his challenge.
David accepted Goliath's challenge because he knew he was under the protection of the Lord.
King Saul found out about David's faith and wanted to see David. David told Saul that he was not afraid to fight Goliath. David explained that one day when he was looking after his sheep, he killed a lion and a bear. The Lord protected him then, and David knows that the Lord will protect him now. Saul gave David his armor. But it didn't suit him, so David took it off and chose to fight without armor.
David picked up five smooth stones and put them in a bag. He took his sling and shepherd's crook and went to meet Goliath.
When Goliath saw David, he began to shout and taunt him. He said that the shepherd could not defeat him. David shouted back that he would beat Goliath and show the greatness of the Lord.
David ran towards Goliath. He quickly threw the stone with his sling. The stone hit Goliath on the forehead, and the giant fell to the ground. The Lord helped David defeat Goliath without sword and armor.
The ending of this amazing story is depicted on the coin.
We are sure that this coin will surely interest fans of Greek mythology.
